Exported Kotoba lists into Anki...

#1
Didn't know if an app like this existed, there probably is, but felt like writing some code anyway so wrote up a really basic program a while back to parse my saved "favorites" lists from Kotoba to formats suitable for direct easy importing into Anki, basically stripping all the crap off the exported txt file and making sure entries with multi-definitions and commas don't interfere with the anki import process.

Anyway, was bored the other night so wrote up a more user friendly interface for it, so if anyone is interested feel free to give it a download. Written in Java so should run on all platforms as long as you have the Java installed.

Living in Japan, I use Kotoba on my iPhone all day, everyday looking up words. Most of the words I would search I would think I had locked in for good once seeing them once but most of the time would end up forgetting them within a few days. If anyone is in the same boat; I found adding searched words to my favorites list, then exporting them via email once a week or so and importing them into Anki for reviewing has increased my vocab ten fold.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my description - it's to be run on a OS X/Windows/Linux for the importing into the Desktop version of Anki.

Was thinking about making an app to do it on the iPhone itself but didn't want to waste time if there was already an app out there that already did what this does or if the kotoba developer was gonna add an more Anki friendly export option in the future.

Will probably spend a bit more time to make it import into Anki automatically after creating the file instead of just creating a Anki friendly text file that you have to import manually if there isn't an app that already does it? Smile

Didn't even know you could favorite sentences Smile Did just check though, but as far as I can see, for some reason Kotoba doesn't include the saved sentences as part of the exported csv file.
