Are there any Final Fantasy Novels in Japanese? (Not Scripts of games)

#1
Hi guys,

Does anyone know if there are any Final Fantasy Novels written in Japanese? I dont mean the scripts of in-game text but rather a story.

I really loved reading about 古代種 in final fantasy 7 crisis core but want more Smile

Yep, I've seen them in plenty of bookstores.

I don't remember the names... but they exist.

I played the online one (11) some years ago and I read some Japanese novels like this one.
If you happen to like the scenario/mmorpg you're going to like them.

However, talking about ff7, I found this...
...But one comment says:
Quote:ヴィセントの一人称「おれ」など、間違いが多々あります。
一部BC設定・キャラの登場、リーブの両親関連などは
7本編を基盤として見ると首を傾げてしまいます。
また「小説」としてではなく「シナリオブック」だと捉えて読む必要があるかも。
本格的な小説を求める方には合いません。
そしてもちろんFF7ACを知っていてかつ好きな方、受け入れられた方向けです。
Maybe if you look for "ファイナルファンタジーVII" on amazon or bk1 you may find something Big Grin

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Fin...tasy_media says there are a lot of them, and even gives the publish dates in Japan.

Kinda off topic but I've been wondering for a while why ファイナルファンタジー ends with a ジー instead of シー :/

Anyways... I never knew they had books (maybe it's because I'm relatively new to Final Fantsy games). Are they actually any good? Are they like side stories or just book versions of the original stories?

If light novels (ライトノベル/ラノベ) count, then there are tons.

On the Way to a Smile (Japanese title) is one I read. I think it's set somewhere between the end of the game and Advent Children. It's broken down into parts and the language is generally fairly simple, so it's good if you don't have much reading experience. That's mainly because the guy is a terrible (小説) writer on so many levels it's hard to begin explaining why, so expect to experience some amount of pain if you stick it out to the end. There's an anime version of the first part, which you should be able to find on Veoh.

ジ represents ji or zi, and fantazii sounds better than fantashii to me. It's just the way they hear that word.

Anyone find any links to the ones that are free on the sites? I tried finding the XIII prequel one, but only could find the drama CD they made for it.
