Selling a Japanese 32gb iPhone 4 from the US?

#1
Hi everybody,

So, I was in Japan until just about a month ago, when I was forced home because of the earthquake. I'm back in the US now, but I have a bit of a problem.

I still have my black 32gb iPhone 4 that I was using with Softbank in Japan, but I'm not really using it and it is just kind of sitting around. I'd like to sell it, but honestly, I'm entirely sure how to go about it, since I am in the US and this phone is locked to Softbank.

Any ideas on how I can get this thing taken off my hands for a little cash (I did, after all, pay 〜¥60,000 for it when I bought it....)

Thanks,
Seth

I would suggest you jailbreak, unlock, then throw it up on ebay.

Or you could try selling it on Yahoo Auctions for Japan (dunno how this works... just popped in my head)

For personal use, b/c I am using Verizon, which is CDMA, so it wouldn't do me any good... but if I unlock it first, could I then just sell it to somebody on ebay as an unlocked iPhone?

Ah, I see. Yeah, someone will buy an unlocked iPhone 4.

no, but you can sell it as a locked phone (it can be unlocked while jailbroken but if the jailbreak is reversed it's still a locked phone)

how much do you want for it (sent to Japan)?

I was hoping to get at least ¥40,000 out of it, since I paid ¥60,000 for it and it's still in great condition. Also including the black official Apple bumper.

I wanted to list it on US ebay, but, I'm not sure how to sort it. They don't have the option to list the carrier as "Softbank" or even "other", so... I dunno if I could list it under "unlocked" or not.
