Snatam Kaur (music)

I've been totally hooked on her voice since discovering her by chance few weeks ago.

I tried to find similar artists and couldn't find anything that comes close (just imho). She's probably one of the best out there.

Beautiful voice, very uplifting.

Snatam Kaur - Ek Ong Kaar

Some of her most beautiful songs you can find on Grooveshark: "Hariaa", "Ong Sohung", "Ong Namo", "Gobinda Hari"...

I love her music! I had time to kill so I sat in on a concert of hers held at my community theater, and I've been a big fan of hers ever since. My favorite is Ong Namo.

Only loosely related in that vague ethnic sense, but it reminds me of Shiva in Exile's first album, titled Ethnic, funnily enough. The vocals.

@Bokunesou: You lucky bastard Smile

Yeah in regard to the "ethnic" word it's interesting that she sings mantras from some sort of Hindu scriptures, because the songs are sung by lots of different artists. There's a kick in copyright's butt Smile

So if you search for "kaur" or the song titles there are many other voices, sometimes the song is just not at all the same thing. That's kind of what I meant by "couldn't find anything that comes close". I was just looking in the exact same genre.

Yeah, well, the tickets were cheap and there was hardly anyone in the audience, it's a shame she isn't more well known.

Interestingly enough, it looks like "Kaur" is a name given to female Sikhs.
