What do you google in Japanese? How? +tips + advice

#1
I usually use 「どうやって」or「方法」to find some anwsers to my random questions, don't know anything else really.

Learning to Google skilfully in English was a major factor that contributed to my progress in learning English. Now it's time to google in Japanese.

Tips?

Advice?

When I see a word that I can't find in the dictionary I often try an image search. It works pretty well for nouns.

Interesting thread!
I'll add a few:

「word 入門」 for an introduction to/tutorial on a subject (Photoshop/Javascript/Spanish, etc)

[word 感想] for reviews of an anime/manga/book/game/movie, etc.

Can you please edit your post and add what kind of things we can search for using this word? tutorials/introductions for what kind of things?

Thanks in advance.
OK, I tried to make it clearer. Generally when I want to learn a new skill I use it and it's never let me down yet.

I use these a lot too. Sometimes 指南 is another useful word for searching guides/tutorials and レビュー and 評価 for reviews.

Another Google tip: include a common particle like の or は to filter out Chinese search results that might otherwise share the same hanzi/kanji.

{[what are you looking for] + 知恵袋 } for discussion / guide / tips / about it. 知恵袋 has few trolls and lots of kind users (in my experience).
Usually I use it, exactly, to find some anwsers to my random questions Big Grin

I use google Japan for everything now.

-Games
-sports (NFL, MBL, NBA...yes, there are Japanese NFL and NBA blogs)
-movie reviews
-anime
-manga
-download
-health
-losing weight
-weight lifting.

Whatever you search in English can be done in Japanese.

I don't care about "beginner level or intermediate level", I just read whatever I want.

Guys, If anyone of you is using chrome, then if you want intermediate level results, add this as your search engine:

I doubt it's good, from my experience it's much more effective to read material that is not light years away from my level.

If the material is at a normal difficulty, I am more comfortable and get more motivated to read more, rather than struggling through one high level article and reading next time in a few months, because of a feeling of disgust towards a information difficulty overload.

I've started to use it to figure out the slang I come across. "~~" + 意味 sort of helps. Also, Goo is pretty good, maybe. Check out: http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/leaf/jn2/221...%E3%82%8B/

It means something like: RRRRRRR... Those xxx how dare they make fun of us. (not an exact translation, lol.)

I don't think the Google reading level works for Japanese yet.

If you like the idea: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?p...7#pid85027

On the second page, cb4960 has created and post the program jReadability, along w/ some lists of novel reading levels.

It is very useful in Google images, the "sort by subject" in the left hand panel.
Have you tried?

example: japanese

http://www.google.com/search?q=japanese&...CAcQpwUoAQ

The question is: how can I do this in http://www.google.co.jp/ ?

壁紙 + [word] seems to work, e.g 壁紙 自然, 壁紙 アニメ, etc.
