I would also love to be able to write out the answer by hand before flipping the card. I mean, how hard could it be to implement that? I was a bit dissapointed in the lack of this feature. Guess i will stick to flashcard deluxe for now. I am hoping for an update!

OK, this .csv file contains the top two stories for each kanji. Instructions:
• Download the file by clicking the link above
• Follow JayRK's instructions in post #46 in this thread, i.e. "The way to import it into the app is to e-mail it to your iPod/iPhone/iPad e-mail account, open it in mail, then click the 'open in "Kanji"' from the top right hand corner and it should zip-zap-zoop and import it into the app (you may need to choose to replace any current stories.)"

I tried to click on the csv url but got the message "Mobile.Me has closed > go to iCloud" ...anybody could please provide new link to the csv files? Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I was able to import my stories in a .csv file using mobile Safari, but when I tried to import my cards the app crashes just after I click the "open in Kanji" button. I see others are having the same issue.

Just an update. I emailed the app developers with a bug report and they've told me that they're currently working on a fix for the problem. It seems that they're well aware of it.

Reading through this thread, it's really unclear: how is this an official app?

Heisig describes it as such on the Nanzan Institute web site (hover over "Miscellaneous Titles", choose "Remembering the Kanji" from the list that appears, then click the relevant link near the bottom of that page).

Their website has been updated. Now just click the following link, Nanzan Institute - Miscellaneous Publications, scroll down to "REMEMBERING THE KANJI APP" (and click it).

The new update looks great. I haven't gone over it entirely, but I'm very happy that the kanji from RTK3 have been added. The way flashcards work now are great as well. I like being able to write them out on the touch screen before seeing the answer. The overall layout of what's on the flashcards is a huge improvement as well.

Do NOT update this app! Although many 'bells & whistles' were added, the developers dropped one of the most important features from version 1: the 'fail' option. In version 2, there is no feasible way to input correct or incorrect.

I completely agree with Norman. The whole idea behind flashcards is to SEPARATE those you haven't learned yet from those you have already learned. In the previous version this process was not implemented perfectly (i.e. there was no way to separate 'failed' cards in a separate stack as one goes on reviewing), but there was a button for FAIL, and an interesting 3-step reviewing system. Why delete all of this? I still can't believe you guys did it. WHY? Now I actually have to carry a pen with me to WRITE DOWN those kanjis I failed to memorize, which is a nuisance.

That's a MAJOR problem. One minor complaint is that I can no longer flip the card by clicking on it, but have to click a little button on the bottom of the card. This is somewhat irritating. Did a lot of people complain about accidentally punching cards with their fingers while studying? No big deal really, but I would like the old flipping system back.

RTK 3 is included, which is really nice.

Katsuo kindly provided a current link to the .csv file with the top 2 stories for use with the Reviewing the Kanji iPhone app.

But something has changed with the app as it will not import that file.

Does anybody have an updated .csv file that will work with the current version (v2.1)of the app?
