Studying for Kanji Kentei on Wordtank? and a question about the N.DS

#1
I want to study towards Kanji Kentei - starting from level 10. I currently have an iPod Touch and I have access to a Wordtank. From what I can find, there is no iOS app that I can study the low levels with (the two quoted below only cover 4+). I have found that the Wordtank has something inbuilt for levels 5+, but it does not seem to have anything for the lower levels.

As both of these options are way above my level at the moment it seems these two platforms are not going to cut it for Kanken. So I am considering buying a Nintendo DS with some Kanken game I have seen people talking about here (I love how it is called a game). So my questions are:

1. Has anyone done study with the Wordtank for Kanken? I have not been able to find much about it here on the forums.
1.1. (It is late, so I am doing silly numbers.) Is there any programs built-in or otherwise to use on the wordtank for the lower levels.

2. I am leaning towards being a DSi (if I can't get the iPod or Wordtank to come good) over a 3DS as it is half the price and can still play the kanken games I want, so is there a good reason to spend double the amount on a 3DS when you take into account I only want it for study?

3. (this should be number 2 actually, but it is too late to change now) Although this has been asked before, is there anything for the iOS for the lower level Kanken, not mentioned in the quote below?

4. This is not a question, I just wanted to pad it out to 4...

漢検プチドリル5000 is a best-seller in Japan (900円). Covers four levels: 4, 3, J2, 2.

漢検2級に挑戦 (450円: they say it's an introductory low price) Level 2 only. This is a new app, so I've only used it a bit, but quite like it so far.
cheers
