A small but useful card tweak.

I know that Ankimobile can search various dictionaries if you set it up right, but I can't be bothered figuring that out ;> Hence, this may or not work for you, but I like it:

<a class="rel" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.sanseido.net/User/Dic/Index.aspx?TWords={{text:Kanji}}&st=0&DailyJJ=checkbox">Sanseido J-J</a>
<a class="rel" rel="nofollow" href="http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/srch/je/{{text:Kanji}}/m0u/">Goo Dict J-J</a>
<a class="rel" rel="nofollow" href="http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/srch/ej/{{text:Definition}}/m0u/">Goo Dict E-J</a>

Pretty self explanatory. You paste this into your card layout (edit>browse items...>card layout> [cut and paste into question or answer layout section]) It creates a link on your card that takes you to the dictionaries listed above (searching for whatever item you have in the text:field [i.e., Kanji]). Don't forget to change you text:~~ to the right fields in your deck. For instance, text:expression, text:front, text:back and so on (no space between colon and following word).

Tested on PC and iPhone, so far.

You should get 大辞林 on your iPhone. It's a whole lot faster and easier to read.

Wow thanks, it will be really useful.

I feel stupid for not realizing this myself. I bet there are other similar useful small tweaks that I haven't found yet.

Does anyone know how to change this so that it looksup a selected word? Probably a redundant question as I could perhaps set up the look up function for this, but I'd prefer to use Sanseido and Goo (yahoo dict breaks the deck on the iPhone for me)

My cards (I don't use SRS much, though) have a link to the Tangorin page and another to the Sanseido entry that shows the pitch.

Seriously, how many words for 'dictionary' are there?? Big Grin

Some time ago I used 字引 and was told its not that common in modern Japanese, apparently only old people use it.
