Does anyone else at this stage feel the rush? This is the first time since starting to study Heisig kanji that I'm starting to feel like I've actually accomplished something! In about 3 days I'll be able to post in the 'Please congratulate me thread' It's been a long solo journey. I almost want to do double time today, but now with just a 100 left... I'm getting nostalgic of the journey just a little bit and maybe i'll savour the rest of it even though I know I still have 1000 more in RTK3. Ahh.. I remember when I finished the FIRST 100 kanji... it didnt take too long... now 1942 kanji later... I'll be on the LAST 100 kanji of the book.

It's an extra 157 kanji that I realized that I'll have to go through after RTK. So (unless you're using the 6th edition) you have 257 left.

I am a long way off yet. I am about 675 kanji in. I get moments where I too feel like I have actually accomplished something however. Usually while watching anime and understanding a kanji used in a design or things to that effect.

Yup I have that printed but he says that 173 of them appear in RTK3 which I'm going to do after this anyway and gives the reference number. Only 27 new kanji aren't covered in RTK1+3. But just in terms for this book, 5th edition, it'll be done soon so sad... my brand new RTK3 is coming in the mail soon.

Thanks, lol I do that too when watching Naruto, looking out for kanji I recognize in the background or in the scenery while doing RTK. Quite rewarding.

Yeah, it's good to pat yourself on the back at different points in the journey like when you reach 1000 . I was at 950 exactly one month ago, the only thing that got me here within a month was really just keeping my head down, doing my quota every day, day by day, no more no less, on schedule and not thinking much at all about how much more I have to go (I did this before and it just make the task seem overwhelming and I'd get distracted with other things). Even when I wanted to and had the energy to do more, I cut myself off at the quota (the cards come back at you in the reviews = BURNOUT later on). And when you look back.. it really is the journey that's the sweetest thing.
