I tried it with a scan of the first full page of the Zero no Tsukaima light novel. Though not intentional, it was a rather appropriate choice considering the OCR success rate was fairly close to zero. I won't be using it again.

Maybe it doesn't like vertical text.

I tried it with a JapanesePod101.com PDF... it works... sort of. The text formatting is a total train wreck, but it didn't make too many mistakes.

Then again, the JPod101.com PDFs are highly formatted, so I wasn't expecting much.
