anyone know when the next edition of rtk is going to come out?

how many kanji are actually supported in kanji.koohi? Is it just +3007? Are there more? how do i add the supplement kanji to my list?

There is no reason for a new book. 3007 is kanji overkill.

But this site supports more than that.

Overkill maybe not. Depends what you do with the language it says in the beginning of rtk3 it was a doctor who wanted the extra 1000 kanji for kanji he came across or something like that I just skimmed it. But by the time your at 3007 you would already have the tools you need to learn the new kanji you encounter.

IMO if you have gone through RTK 1 and 3 and still can't manage to learn additional kanji on your own, you haven't studied correctly.

(I'm still smiling at "just 3007")

I'm almost at 3000 unique kanji in my vocab deck. I don't have any problems with kanji anymore/listening. It will just comes down to learning more vocab(3000 doesn't sound that much to me, once you get to 4000. Your pretty much set, or at least to me that is).

it isn't bad actually, just take that one slowly. I've been starting to delete non-useful keywords as they pop up from my RTK deck. The keyword for "shine" I've never seen that kanji ever, even though I'm almost to 3000 unique kanji(2950 actually). I have seen one for "benevolence" keyword (from ninja sigma game for ps3, so I was surprised because I still remember it even though I haven't seen it for a long time. The power of the srs never seizes to amaze me)

I think RTK3 is decent. I've encountered a lot of characters from there in the wild. There is some super rare/obscure stuff mixed in there though. Like for instance 暝 and 詑, which appear only 10 times in the entire contents of the Japanese Wikipedia. What gives, Heisig?

The ROI isn't high enough for me to justify going through RTK3.

Nah, this site supports far more than that. Just punch in the unicode number of the kanji rather than a heisig number. Eg.

They don't have keywords but a few kind souls have contributed stories.

There's a total of 3,030 kanji in the SRS system on this site: the 3,007 in RTK1/3 plus another 23 from the supplement. Details from News for Dec 2010. It's also possible to enter & access stories for characters outside the 3,030 by pasting kanji in the box on the Study Page.
