My Story on the Power of the SRS and RTK

#1
First time posting here, long time lurker. Almost three months ago I stopped RTK somewhere in the mid 700s and a few days ago, I started back up with just as many reviews to do. I actually had to update Anki to get it to sync it had been so long. I seriously dreaded having to relearn all the stories, all the primitives that I had forgotten. But I started cold, without even pulling the book out. I get a few misses, remember a few more; still dreading having to go through everything to find what I had lost.

But then I noticed something. Everything with an interval I'm still within, be it by a month or a day, I remember. I read the stories for the ones I wasn't sure about, and even if I'm not exactly sure where all the primitives went, I still knew them. The SRS knew me better than I did. It gave me the drive to tear down through the cards, and I may have it where I can start where I left off by the weekend.

Up until now, I was never sure if RTK and SRSing was actually worth all the effort it takes to put in place. But now I know that it is the best method for burning through, and actually remembering, all these devilish 漢字. Let my laziness be a testament to how well it all works together.

I'm glad to hear yet another success! Smile
It also helps to know that this is probably the hardest part of learning any language! If you can do this than you can really just about do anything!

I really like what we're doing here. It just makes perfect sense that after getting rid of the Kanji barrier we can just learn Japanese in the same way we learned say: spanish. I hope you're keeping up man and continue to success.

Thanks for writing. I have also noticed that I remember a lot more than I think I do in Anki.
