I would love some help with some changes I'm making for cards that had no English meaning given, or had some other issue...

The translation give is "He was sitting pompously in a chair", more or less. I thought maybe

would be better for that English.

"He was sent to the spot to gather data. 〔記事を取る〕cover (an event)" was given, but the card was suspended. The translation seems okay to me, but that doesn't mean much.

Can we have a bit of context here? Even I, a huge Harry Potter fan who has re-read the books multiple times in English and am about to finish my second run through of the Japanese versions, have no idea what is going on here.

Not to sound like an ass. But did you think to try using a J-J dictionary for any of the stuff?

Like 苔生す (Which it says it can mean moss-covered, but could mean many years pass, or something like that)

For some of the hard to understand words/phrases, trying to make out the dictionary definition might be easier.

@bertoni: If this comes from the Harry Potter deck I uploaded, the sentences are taken from the dictionnaries included in the Apple Dic application: プログレッシブ英和・和英中辞典 and 大辞泉. I actually don't care much about the translations as I used the sentences mostly to learn readings and get some idea of the meaning of unknown words, but I'm mostly learning from context anyway.

So basically if you trust those dictionnaries, and unless I failed copy/pasting (might have happened), those sentences and translations should be OK.

However, as with any pre-made deck, it might not fit your needs, feel free to modify it and upload a different/better version.

Yes, I have used a dictionary, but I don't want to share a changed Anki deck without asking for some confirmation that my attempts at translation have some accuracy. Well, more precisely, I've actually translated a lot of the easy ones that were still in Japanese, and haven't posted them, but those seemed trivial.

I'm sorry for the lack of context, but I'm giving everything for the Anki card in question. I can delete the cards in question if you think they're useless. The "moss-covered" card might be a good example.

I'm just a bit obsessive about accuracy in information I'm posting.

Oops, meant to add that the translations generally seem fine. I'm not complaining about the deck; I'm just trying to get all the cards translated in to sentences or more fluent phrases, as appropriate. Nice deck, but I'm a neurotic proofreader.

Sorry, when I meant context I didn't mean the story context. I meant where you are getting these cards from. I know the story.

Not a problem. I should have said I was using the public shared deck, "Harry Potter 1 & 2 vocabulary".
