Hi!
I've been living in Japan for around 6 months now and my apartment is full of gaming consoles, books and tiny small gadgets I've bought here in Japan. In other words, I have to think about how to get this stuff back home to Norway.
I'm thinking about sending a couple of boxes with 船便 (cheapest option, 2-3 months delivery time).
Do you guys know where I can buy boxes within the size-limits of Japan post?
I need boxes that are as big as possible, yet inside the limits.
Other tips on securing the luggage, good ways of packing stuff, cheaper options etc. are more than welcome! =)

When I've wanted to send stuff seamail I've generally just scrounged cardboard boxes from a local supermarket or taken them off the street when some shop put them out for recycling. Reinforce all the edges and seams with waterproof duct tape from your local 100-yen shop, and the job's a good one :-)

I'd go for taking delicate stuff back in hand luggage and shipping the heavy non-fragiles, as much as possible. Spare clothing is a useful ad-hoc packing for random gaps. Books don't really need much extra padding; I did put them all in carrier bags just in case the box got waterlogged, but that was probably paranoia.

I've been here for 3 years now, going into my 4th. Guess how much I have in my apartment by now?! Don't wanna think about how to get all of that home (x___X)

I second the cardboard boxes from the local supermarket! It shouldn't be a big deal ^-^
Another option would be to rent a container, but I doubt you have enough stuff so that would be too expensive.
