Looking for Japanese comedy movies (farce, satire, etc.)

#1
I'm primarily interested in all-out comedy (as opposed to, say, romantic comedies, or comedies of manners, sitcoms, etc.). By this I mean the Japanese equivalent of a Will Farrell movie, or a Mike Myers movie, for example.

I'd appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks!

There's a lot, but Cromartie High School: The Movie (2005) comes to mind.

This. Oh my god this. I loved this so much.

I also liked Radio Time (ラヂオの時間) and The Wow-Choten Hotel (有頂天ホテル)

...Or maybe just about anything by Mitani Kouki (三谷幸喜). That's all of his I've seen, but i loved all 3, so if he has any other comedies, they're probably good too

I third this. I almost recommended Koki Mitani's stuff (don't forget University of Laughs) but figured the OP woudn't want that style. Still, if I were the OP, I'd forget the Will Ferel and Mike Meyers and go with the above.

Also: Yuichi Sato's Kisaragi.

Does anybody know what the movie(s) are that are from the T.V. personalities with 3 guys dressed in drag? I used to think the T.V. show was hilarious even though I couldn't understand what they were saying. They made the ugliest women in the world and I think it was a type of game show/ talk show. Anyway, about a year or so back they came out with a movie (I think it wasn't their first).

Thank you all for your recommendations! I have not seen any of these, nor recognize any of the names, so this is going to be an all out feast.

The other day I watched 東京ゴッドファーザーズ, and I found it pretty funny (plus the animation is amazing). The dark humor made it easy to tune out the melodramatic bits.

Thanks again!

I second Kamikaze Girls/Shimotsuma Monogatari and Tokyo Godfathers. Both are incredibly funny. Satoshi Kon's works usually have some comedy in them (and are really great in general), but most of them fall under the psychological genre.
