Japanese History Textbooks

Does anyone know of any? Possibly elementary to middle school level if possible. I searched google, but the search was fruitless. Mostly just links about the controversy with their textbooks.

Did you try amazon.co.jp? Surely there's something there.

I tried looking for these as well, but like you said, most of the links are just people whinging about the textbooks.

OP asked for textbooks. None of the links so far are textbooks, just childrens books.

Technically it is not possible to buy them since they are provided for free to students. The price on the ones I have says 0Y on the cover and have a notice saying it's provided free from taxpayer money. That said, you can still find them for sale at some places like http://kyokasho.jp

I've never used the site so I don't know anything else than that they have textbooks for sale. Note that there is no "history class" in Japanese school. It's wrapped into the social studies and geography subjects.

The first two items in ta1212121212's first link don't look like children's books, and given that OP said the history manga series looked "mf'n awesome", I'm guessing he or she was satisfied by the links he or she got. If not, he or she should probably speak up, or check out your link.
