While browsing the web i found some material of interest at the Birkbeck University Japanese placement test website. I thought it would be worth to share them. The tests are aimed at almost every level of knowledge from beginner to the intermediate learners.
Japanese 2 - 3 *click me* This test is at a pretty basic level. With at least the knowledge of Genki I, Minna no Nihongo, or similar and vocab in your back it's doable and not very hard.
Japanese 4-5 *click me* This test seems to aim at about the same level of knowledge. I have yet to try myself on that one. But i say, judging by the vocab, this might be aimed at those with Genki I / Genki II knowledge of Grammar and Vocab.
Japanese 5 *click me* I think this one is for those at an intermediate stage of learning. The writing section sure is a tough one from just looking at it.
All tests contain these points to work on:
Grammar - fill in the blanks with the correct particle
Verb conjugation
Kanji - Provide the reading in Hiragana or Katakana
Reading and understanding
Write a Short Essay
Have fun!
