Do what I do in English: nothing much.
Read books, browse websites, watch movies, chat about mundane crap with natives.
Or I could become a 芸人 famous for doing nothing in particular, but I'd probably shoot myself before doing that.

Writing everything in kana doesn't particularly help to defy the foreigner stereotype.
I'll presume you were being facetious though.

Reminds me of that annoying American teacher on Conan who was always mixing in English with her mediocre Japanese.

When I become fluent I will just go around conversing with people and having fun. I don't intend to impress people with my Japanese. The way I see it after you're fluent you have the skill of everyone else in Japan. Not Particularly impressive.. but everyone has something in their personality that is awesome and I want to show that. Breaking 外人 stereotypes everywhere i go. Well not exactly I'll still be american. AMERICA ***** YEAH!

I just want to be able to go to the bookstore and be able to peruse and read excerpts like I would in English to pick out some novels...well, okay, manga too. Yay furigana and my lack of reading skills!
