Just a question I haven't seen specifically answered.

Suppose I want to use a deck with vocab new to me to learn using this method(because the way I did reviews before took to damn long, and thus I burned out). Should I go through and write out all the new vocab first before speeding through the anki deck? Or just dive right in and learn the vocab as I come across it in the deck?

I would spend too much time in Anki when I used it stressing over memorising new vocab I came across rather than completeing my set goals for those times.

I personally test a card until recall is near-perfect. I have no say on writing answers prior to review.

Initial encoding is favorable, however. (Be it through writing or reading)
