Order Your $40 PS3 Yet?

#1
In case it's changed by the time you see this, 60GB PS3s were listed on Amazon (via Target) for $39.99. I ordered one because there's no reason not to try, so here's to hoping I can finally play some Japanese games.

Edit: Listing removed from Amazon's site.

I'm getting the one that says "$4,999.95 + $3.99 shipping"...

Consoles suck. Computer games forever!!!1~

Edit: Others have said it's actually just a 'shooter grip' or something. One person posted this image of their order confirmation: http://imgur.com/nTRAK

I know it's some sort of mistake. If you order it from Amazon it still says PS3 on my receipt, but on Target it said it was a Move grip in the cart. They finally took the listing down, however. I'm still crossing my fingers that they honor it, but highly doubtful. Just thought I'd try.

Can't speak for the USA however in the UK whether it was a mistake or not it it was advertised as a PS3 then by law they have to give you a PS3. Argos found that out when it listed TV's for 50p a few years ago and tried not to avoid completing the sales by sending the TV's.

Not true - online sales can always be wriggled out of via their Terms & Conditions. Your confirmation of order is just that - a confirmation that you have made an order. Even them taking the money is not legal confirmation of sale; the contract is not actually complete until they have shipped the goods to you (which never happens).

Not heard about the Argos case, but googled it and found this.

Unless you know different, it looks like they cancelled all orders and sent out zero TVs.

Amazon never honour misprices, never have never will. $40 PS3 is just ridiculous, never going to happen.

All true, except the 'never happens' bit. I (and others I know) have managed to get things shipped before the mistake was caught. It's definitely possible.

Oh yeah well (insert superior knowledge here). So that means (insert what you said here) is wrong.

I take it your referring to the episode of short change where they said that companies were not obligated to sell at the advertised price, but must change the mistake as soon as it is pointed out to them. (That's UK, not US.)
