I know there is a lot of information available on Wikipedia, and of course in the textbook I am using. But could someone state in a few simple points for me the causes? I can grasp the general situation of the time, but I just can't seem to be able to remember it in a few most important points...
I'll edit this post with the points:
Communists (CCP) vs Nationalists (GMD) The final years of the civil war: 1945-1949
Guomindang's common mistakes:
* Focussed too much on cities (why?)
* Scandals with transmissions of property
* Financial problems, food prices rised (reason?)
* Acts of revenge against communists
* Expanded too fast to Manchuria without strengthening their base in the rest of China
* Failed to cooperate effectively with the USA
In contradiction to the CCP's amazing feats during that period:
* They were able to work together with the Soviet Union's influence on facilities in Manchuria
* They strategically handled, conquering the hearts of the countryside's civilians, leading guerrillas to their hand, only then to focus on the surrounded cities
* They could test their way of governing already in large parts of Manchuria in 1947 (to do the same on whole China after that, just as the Manchus had done before the Qing Dynasty)
(this is what I have now, and it's pretty crappy... Can anyone else give me some simple points on some military insights I fail to note down in a few points? Or anything that you seem fit to add to / edit this list.)
Thanks!!
