Grammar clozed delete card format.

#1
I just wanted to share this card format as it is really helping me with conjugations.

# I use "snapshot" to take the photo off whatever is on my screen.
# You need to fill in the answer with this card, so it focuses on repetition based learning.
# I am working through Aeron Buchanan's Japanese Verb Chart doing the most useful first.

# I use Tim Takamatsu's verb page for the snapshots as his work is amazing!
link: http://www.timwerx.net/language/jpverbs/index.htm
# He also has a book, which based on his work might be a worthwhile buy.

I have to say that except for conditionals at this point, this has really helped me to "form" the different conjugations. I recommend doing a bit of study to understand the grammar point when you create the card (verb form meanings are usually pretty straight forward - even if usage is sometimes a bit fuzzy).

That card makes me react in one way and one way only: Ew. No offence.
Romaji conjugation tables? Ew. Ew. Ew.

I´ll shut up now.

Haha, nice comment. Romanji, because that's all I could find with minimum effort - I've typed stuff in before, it's boring and a waste. But, I concur. Ew, ew. ew. Lol.

Don't worry about using romaji for that, it really doesn't make that much difference. If you want to go in and change it to kana that's fine but if you have a lot of cards that you would have to change it would probably be more trouble than it's worth.

I wasn't saying ew just to the romaji!
Actively studying conjugation tables also equals ew, so
(conjugation tables) * (romaji) = (ew)^2

Conjugation tables are something that you look at every once in a while. Maybe even think about them for a while...especially with irregular verbs... but you don't actively study them! Gah! That brings back such horrible memories for me!

I completely agree with your method of using screenshot programs to pick up bits of things that you want to study, though. I sometimes do that with manga. Clozed deletion manga is teh best, yo.

I also like that your cards have a relatively large amount of information on the question side while remaining concise, only test one bit of knowledge(easy to remember), and provide extra examples on the answer side(handy when you forget).

Lol, you know it actually is a pretty nifty idea. I can do most of the basic conjugations plus a few harder ones because of this. All I really need is 15-20 minutes a day and after 2 weeks its set in my head. It's pretty painless - just type in your answer, if Anki shows red text then check the specific verb on the table and ask why? Review and move on.

(The answer for this card is actually きめて <-- that's about all I need to produce or check.)

#Tangent: There should really be a thread on screenshot software and it's uses. I have to say it has given me more options and cut down my card creation time for complicated stuff immensely - probably one of the better tools I have found (glad you found it too).
