Where can I buy exercise equipment in Japan?

#1
I want to buy a stair stepper and maybe dumbbells, but I haven´t yet found a store where I can get those things. I live in Chiba (Inage) now, maybe somebody knows a store that is near this place? I would be thankful for Tips in Tokyo, too.

And does somebody know where I can buy earplugs? The university dorm is often quite loud which makes it difficult to sleep.

You mean you didn't steal the one's from the plane? :p
Any supermarket should sell them I think, probably near the facemasks and medicines and stuff.

Why on earth would you want to buy a stair stepper? If you want that kind of exercise which is relatively ineffective despite maybe tiring you out why not just go walking...?

Nah that way he might have to interact with some natives or even worse see something interesting...

Seriously though, buy a good book on how to train by yourself using equipment available in every home (+dumbbells) and try doing that. When trying to get in shape your biggest enemy is you and not lack of equipment. If you want to do cardio exercises go to a pool or ride a bike more intensively (and try not to 食べ過ぎる afterwards).

You are your own gym by Mark Lauren.
Have only been doing it for 3 months now, but has been nothing short of a life-changer for me.
(There are some downloadable copies on the internet)

Earplugs can often be found any place they sell power tools/lawn equipment, anything that makes a lot of noise.

Chances are you can find them in a Hyaku-en as well.

Can't help with the stair stepper, but you can make the kind of 'stairs' they use in gym classes by stacking up some textbooks you no longer use and gleefully jumping up and down on them Big Grin

If you can get into central Tokyo, there are a whole bunch of sports shops between Jimbocho (神保町) and Awajicho (淡路町) stations in the Ochanomizu (御茶ノ水) area. You might try somewhere like Victoria Sports (although their website didn't seem very helpful).

I'd suggest Amazon. I got an exercise bike off of there for 1man and they let me do COD. You can't do COD for everything, but you can usually do conbini payments or furikomi or some other way that lets you avoid using a credit card.
