A good txt reader for pc - "My" azur died yesteday T_T

#1
Hi everybody!
First post but lurking from a long time (almost 1 year and a half...since I had almost completed RTK).
Yesteday I started reading some txt files as I'm doing some warming up for #tadoku contest on twitter. (http://readmod.wordpress.com/)I was looking for a good txt reader and I found "azur" on the web (http://www.voyager.co.jp/azur/) .
I was like a child, running all over the room screaming "I found you, now I can read the 800gB of txt in my external Hd. Haha!". Then I read a lot, till midnight or so (I know, it doesn't matter, I just want you to know that I used it for some hours).
I was also doing sentence mining just doing copy&past to my vocaboulary deck or pasting it in my gmail account when Anki crashed a few hours later (Yes, I'm a lazy bear).
Then IT happened.
For some reason (陰謀!) this morning I turned on my pc and it won't work anymore.
It was the first rebooting after the installation (maybe it has some relations? I really don't know).
To be more precisely Azur is still working but when I copy&past something I just get " Z‚©‚ç‹A‘î‚·". I first thought that was a coding problem between firefox and Azur or between anki and Azur so I tried to copy&paste on msn and explorer but with same results (yesterday I had no problem with pasting mined sentence in anki/msn/firefox/thunderbird). I'm bit disappointed because I can't figure what's the cause and because Azur (in my opinion) is (was? XD) the best T_T The feature I liked the most is that you can high-light spoken part with another colour, and some other stuff like that. I felt in love with it in some hour, that's the story.

If you can figure out the cause of the mispasting I'll be gratefull forever.
If you can suggest me another txt reader that allows me to copy&paste and with some nice graphics (I tried like 10 different programs but meh...I felt as I was using my old 486. I just need to read, I know, but please let me choose a font that won't kill my eyes <.<).
Ah...I'm using a laptop with Vista I don't remember wich service pack and I think I have the right framenetwork version (I don't know if this could help or not).
Thank you for you attention.
I hope you can experience Azur without problem D;

p.s. A friend installed Azur on XP and seems to work fine. But he has the same problem as me with the copy&paste function. The same txt file let him copy&paste or not, randomly (or at least, so he said me, he was on hurry and didn't test it)!!! The file I was using: http://bit.ly/gt2eaN
Then I tried also with other different txt and also html but with same results T_T

Sounds like you're pasting into a document with different encoding. Can you change preferences in Azur to enforce utf-8 encoding?

I can't see any option like that, just some option about viewing and so on.
If there is an encoding-button, I just can't see it :/

I already tryed to unistall, reinstall it using applocale and running it under applocale with no results. Renaming the txt files in romaji and save it in a "standard" directory (without japanese char into it): no results.

Are you saying that no matter what programs you copy and paste between, it always comes out as garbled symbols?

What happens if you copy and paste japanese text from Aozora e.g. from here into Anki. What happens if you paste it into notepad?

Yes, no matter wich program I use :/

Have you got a unicode text editor? Try with EditPad Lite or BabelPad. Can you paste Japanese text into one of these?

If you can, perhaps check that east asian fonts support is turned on in your regional & language settings.

lol, OK how about if you change your locale to Japanese? I notice it is set to IT at the bottom, do you have Japanese input installed too?

hmm it shows the same characters in Japanese and Italian - that's pretty weird. It seems like the problem is with the document you're copying from, not the one you're copying to.

If you have japanese input, open BabelPad and type some Japanese. Then copy it and try to paste it back into BabelPad. If that works, try pasting the same thing into other apps.... any luck?
