Dictate Japanese on your iPhone

#1
Dragon Dictation for iPhone was updated, and now you can select Japanese as your language. I had to remove and reinstall to get it to display the new options. It's free, so it's definitely worth giving it a try.

It's surprisingly accurate (just like the English version), and performs pretty well if you do a sentence at a time. You can tap a word to reconvert it to the kanji you want, and it's easy to e-mail the text or post it on Facebook.

I've seen lots of stupid reviews in the UK store, but you need to talk clearly like a news announcer if you want to get the best out of it. I'm not sure if it'll be especially practical for anyone, but it might be a good way to test your pronunciation and work on your enunciation. Here's a sample from me.

ドラゴンディクテーションが最近アップデートされ、今は日本語でも使えるようになっています。 僕のおぼつかない発音でさえ信じられない位正確なので、皆さんに知ってもらえば、と思いました。

Speaking clearly and with a quiet background it works fairly well. Only negative point for me is that it needs to be online, and my iPod Touch rarely is.

Edit: I wonder how the recognition compares to Jibbigo (which I haven't tried).
