Sentence Cards in Anki... how do you guys do it?

#1
Hi Koohi guys/gals!

Hope all is well. I had a quick question:

Do any of you guys use sentences/sentence mining in your studies?

I currently have my anki decks set up as follows:

3007 RTK (given the keyword, reproduce/write on paper the kanji, working so far Smile)

~2000+ Vocabulary, built from scratch. (given a japanese word, reproduce the meaning in english/japanese. also has a sample example sentence)

Im regularly adding vocab words as I find them during my readings, but was wondering if I should continue to just add 1 word? or should I start to create a sentence?

**Now I only do Vocab->JapaneseMeaning and no longer have english on my cards, but if I start to do sentence cards (Sentence->JapaneseMeaning; I dont know how to memorize the japanese meaning of a japanese sentence). Do you guys reccomend adding sentences? Or should I stick with vocab, and have a sample sentence to recall that is katakoto?

A lot of people on this site (not me) recommend doing sentences. Maybe give it a try and see if you feel it provides any benefit. Keep in mind adding sentence cards takes a lot longer if you're making them yourself.
Your current routine, taking vocab from reading seems fine to me. Do you find it beneficial or tiresome?
If you're concerned about grammar, I'd recommend just SRSing the grammar chunks as they are presented in grammar books rather than complete sentences. This way you are giving yourself a more difficult hint-free test of comprehension (same goes for vocab). Sample sentences on the back of the card may be helpful if it doesn't negatively effect card creation time too much but I don't think they are crucial.

sentences should be learned as you should know what are you speaking and how are you speaking it , and how you should speak or pronounce it .
