2011 JLPT study thread

Hi guys,
I live in China and took the test at a local university (Ningbo) in July. They have an online service for all the exam centers in China, and the results are already available. (I passed! Smile
I'm not sure yet how to get the certificates though (they don't deliver at home, you've got to pick them up at the exam centers... my Chinese is not quite there yet so I haven't mustered the courage to make that phone call)

anyway, my point was, there's an online service that can tell you if you passed or not in CHINA, but nothing for the rest of the world??

Regional tests are administered by the region, so services vary.

When I took JLPT2 in Canada it was run by my university. Registration and payment was online too, so it was much more convenient than the postal money order etc needed in Japan.

You could try making the phone call in Japanese..

Good day.
As i see all of you here speaking about N1 or 2 level
Actually i intended to apply N4 this Dec, here in Ukraine.
So may be some one can help me with my questions.

1. In tasks all written in Hiragana or in kanji? Cause for me its easy if it in kanj then wasting time to "decode" the hiragana :-)
2. May be someone can share the link were described different preparation strategy for JLPT.

Thanks a lot

To answer your question, there are approximately 300 Kanji used at the JLPT N4, so you have to learn them. Here you will find some resources that will help you. Smile

Thanks a lot,
actually my be i wrote incorrectly, - but i already know about 400 kanji,
The questions is "All questions in JLPT papers wrote in hiragana or in Kanji (with ofurigana above"
Thanks for link. A already know this recourse, but maybe its some additional recourses with exact strategy
For ex. In medium text reading section to save your time its better not to read passage completely. Better 1st read the question and then search for answers in text.....
So like this.....

Thanks

Well my Chinese is not as bad as I thought ^^
The certificates will arrive at the beginning of October in China....
The more i think about this test organization the more I'm flummoxed by how long certain things take. Is post that bad in Japan?
Still, i'm so happy ^_^ N1, 114/180 yeah me Tongue

N2 79/180 Faaaaail ;__;

Language 29/60
Reading 23/60
Listening 27/60

Oh well, it was an improvement on last time. The reading sections destroy me every time, I can never finish so I have to guess the last questions :B

Still, 1, 7, and 3 marks more in each section would have gotten me a pass so I'll use it as motivation for the next time right? Smile Going to Yokohama university from the end of September until August so that should definitely help my score!

Congratulations to those who passed, and good luck to those trying again :3

Just got my N1 results. Looks like I scraped the reading.

言語知識: 59/60
読解: 25/60
聴解: 43/60
総合得点: 127/180

I've only ever read a few light novels and manga series, so not bad considering. I was inspired to start reading more on my trip too, so I should start improving.

What's necessary to pass N2?

19/60 in every section?
Reply
iirc think it's minimum 19 in each section and total of 100 points.

To pass N2 you need 90 overall marks and at least 19 marks in each section.

ah sorry, my post was regarding N1...

iirc N1 requires a minimum of 19 in each section and 100 total.

Drawing inspiration from AJATT and, upon beginning to use RTK, the posts and users on this forum, I dove into native material beginning my second year of Japanese study and never looked back. (I'm not usually one to post on forums, however. :])
With a few months to go in my third year of study I was feeling good about my progress and took the JLPT for the first time.

N1
Vocabulary: 57/60
Reading: 52/60
Listening: 60/60
Overall: 169/180

Now I can begin learning Japanese.

Thanks for the inspiration. 8)

The certificate just says pass/fail on it right? I'm in Japan at the moment so I can't check...

drdunlap- That's a fantastic mark well done.
I'd like to try N1 again sometime and try to dominate it by getting 90% plus like that.

The thing you get through the post I think has a couple of pages one with your scores and another with your photo and details just saying the level you passed. You could probably seperate them, but why would you want to?

I prefer having a certificate that just says "Pass" than one that reminds me i passed with 57%. Tongue
