Selectable kanji avatars?

#1
Wouldn't it be a nice feature to be able to highlight people's kanji-based avatars? Or at least be able to look them up somewhere, because there are many times that I see someone with an unknown (to me) kanji avatar whose meaning I'd like to look up quickly Smile

Yeah, I usually look them up through http://kanji.sljfaq.org/draw-canvas.html but there are some which are really quite complex and don't copy over very well.

the problem with that website is that I don't know the correct stroke order and, therefore, the computer can't recognize the kanji that I've tried to draw

I can usually find most kanji using this thing: http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-b...dic.cgi?1R

If you want an easy way to identify someones avatar, you could try using cb4960's ocr thingy.

I usually just use http://pyrosphere.net/japanese/ and do it by "shape" and "stroke"
Sometimes I'll add in radicals too.

For what it's worth, mine is a kokuji who's only reading is とん which I don't think you'll ever come across. On the other hand, it's not too hard to come across the word "ton," although this is in a metric sense, so 1000 kg instead of 2,000 lbs.
