Getting applications to display japanese text

#1
Hey guys,
I don't know if other people experience this, but whenever I try to install a Japanese program the installer has purely garbled text (words come out like ??????????????????????????? or other symbols), and the menus in the software that use text do the same thing. Is there any way to change encoding of the text in the application from the operating system? I know my system is trying to read SHIFT-JIS as ASCII, so I suspect there should be some way to change it. I'm on Windows 7 Professional.

Try changing the system locale to Japanese.

I have found what you did problematic for my PC in the past, so I stick with AppLocale: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/26...ows-vista/ (Works for Windows 7 also)
