I can imagine Japanese animation schools having a separate course about OPs and EDs, with an entire module on "people turning around" Smile

I had no idea till I saw the video that there were many stock movements and suchlike. I guess someone developed this 'vocabulary' to showcase animation levels... I'd like to see a similar compilation but for 'tropes' within the show itself.

Maybe there's some background repetition as referenced in Bakuman.

That sequence started to creep me out. Should've thrown in that dramatic hamster thing.

Also, I love that the video has 40 dislikes.

Wow, nice! Smile

On a related note, some years back, a guy working for Arte (a german cultural channel) used a 6 months trip to Alaska to codify the Young and the Restless. Link below for those interested. Stereotypia is great when approached structurally.

Yeah, my first thought was that there is a LOT that could be learned from that compilation, if someone wanted to be an animator.

Also, I watch too much anime, I guess. I recognized far too many of those from 1/2 second clips. Big Grin

I'm pretty sure there's a module on how to draw traffic lights and telegraph poles as well, given how often they seem to turn up in anime...

It's no jibun wo, but I can't complain about Ayumi eurobeat remixes.

I know it's a compilation of generic parts of intros from animes, and that's the joke, but here is the greatest anime opening.

End of STORY.

So basically, the typical anime opening consists of (in this order):

running, running, turning, nudity, poignant gazing in unusual locations, people landing on other people, walking, sword fighting, fanservice, walking, weird modes of transportation, space robots, cute girls crying, coloured specks getting blown around, touching hands, non-touching hands, holding out hands, flocks of birds, pairs of similar looking people... fade.

It's fine to highlight that almost all anime openings have turning and walking, and a fair amount have hands doing stuff, but taking poses out of context fails to communicate the bizarre imagery that's also common in OPs.

Also, they left this out in the flying birds part:
