Hi, I remember I read somewhere khatzumoto advised one should not use Jim Breen's WWWJDIC for sentence mining because there are some mistakes in the database, so just to be sure.

So just to make sure, are these resources good for searching sentences:

Didn't really try the second one, but the first one is really useful for digging various sentences containing specific words, which I find useful sometimes. I would just like to have confirmation from someone more proficient than me that these sentences are not faulty in some way

edit: ah so I see that tangorin also relies on the tanaka corpus like wwwjdic, but what about the first link?

I don't really think it matters if some of the sample sentences you encounter have mistakes, because as long as you're using plenty of native materials the vast majority of sentences you encounter will be correct and you'll get used to correct usage in time. Sentences in textbooks, grammar references, sentence databases and so on may not be perfect but they are designed to demonstrate whatever point clearly and concisely.
There is always google though...

Yeah, it's okay to use the odd unreliable source, so long as you're using reliable ones as well. That's why I added Tatoeba to my list of sentence sources, just as a "for the heck of it, I've got no other sources" sort of thing. People are adding sentences to that site kind of randomly, though. Sometimes they're attributed, sometimes not.

ALC uses an edited version of Eijiro, IIRC, although their English translations are kinda funky.

But I'm still not touching the Tanaka corpus just out of habit.
