Sometimes I hear people say, '...do I really need to learn all those kanji? Can't I just get by with a vague idea of what a few of the most common mean?'

So, for all those who doubt the importance of learning kanji properly, let this be a lesson:

On the other hand, if you can't bothered learning the kanji properly, perhaps you could just forget about learning Japanese altogether, and open a tattoo parlour instead. There's loads of money to be made out of tattooing the unsuspecting with random/rude collections of (pseudo) kanji :-)
