So I was wondering if anyone here has experience with PC games having a Japanese language option. The ones I've checked don't seem to have many options for language, which seems kind of odd to me. I would think the PC would be the easiest to get games with alternate languages.
I was wanting to buy Fallout 3, but I don't really wish to play the PS3 version of it, I'd rather play it on the PC, but as far as I can tell the PC version doesn't have a Japanese language option which kinda stinks. So I'm a bit curious if anyone here knows a bit more on the topic. And maybe have some cool games to mention.

It's probably easiest to find games that were made in Japanese then to find games that have been localized to Japanese. It appears that Fallout 3 was only released in Japan for the consoles, not the PC. But you can find plenty of indie/doujin games for the PC if you look.

Final Fantasy XIV is out now (an MMO), and you can set it to English, Japanese and a couple of other languages. Like FFXI, there are lots of Japanese players if you are around during the right time.

If you buy Skyrim, from what I understand you can change it to Japanese and it has both text AND audio in Japanese. Gaijinme there's no info on Diablo 3 being released in America much less anywhere else, I doubt you'll find out for a bit longer. If they're releasing a Japanese version though I'd like to be a part of that...

Skyrim can be purchased through Steam and played in Japanese, yes, so can some other games, but not all games that have a Japanese version can be set to Japanese if purchased through Steam.

If a game has Japanese options, it'll be listed on the store page with the languages. You're probably asking about games with subtitles AND audio, so to that extent you'll want to consult a game's forum. Also, Nesetoru, why would you go to play-asia? You don't need to import it if you're playing the PC version...
Anyway the reason I recommended looking into Skyrim is because it's an RPG with heavy amounts of text. That's the reason I'd go to great lengths to play a game in Japanese, anyway.

Question.
Has anyone done the Skyrim Japanese voices thing with Steam? Can you revert afterwards?
As in, the bf would kill me if Skyrim was permanently in Japanese, so I kind of want to switch back and forth. Would that be possible?

Yes, it's possible, the option is selected in the properties for Skyrim in the Steam interface. However, every time you switch languages it erases the existing language and downloads the new choice. That's a lot of data and takes considerable time even on broadband. If you're going to be switching back and forth, it might be worthwhile to identify all the files that change and switch them in and out manually.

I guess the most obvious thing to suggest is visual novels? I guess you're not looking for that though
