Dont get how to import audio into anki

#1
Is it even possible to get a clean 2k/6k deck with audio with out going through so many posts with largely assuming explanations? Why is it so confusing? Can i get explicit steps so I can stop worrying about how spreadsheets work and actually start learning?

I would also be very grateful if someone could give an easy to understand run down for the computer illiterate like myself. Thanks!

As for the 2/6k deck, I just downloaded mine from the anki downloads menu...I assume this isn't what you want though?

First you must be explicit and clear about what it is you want. What do you mean by 'clean', for example? Not to mention your comment and its subject heading don't connect to one another easily.

Yeah, I should have picked a better title, but besides from questioning my question, I figured what I want(and I'm sure others want) would be pretty clear:

"2k/6k Anki deck with audio"
JLPT audio decks would be cool too

without having to dig through confusing half-done explanations
Even the sticky posts aren't clear on how to get this.
Whats the point of making something so great if its not easy to access? I just want to learn!

Yeah, thats the deck I was trying to use. I can't figure out how to get audio in it ( or any of these premade decks for that matter). I figured it would be an easy process, but it seems easy to follow steps aren't this forums forte :/

@duelarm: That is strange, I didn't have to do anything to get mine to work. When I downloaded the 時をかける少女 deck I had a few issues with the audio...but now I can't remember what I did. I think I had to rename the folders so they matched, and then reimport them (or something like that) and then it worked.
(Sorry I can't be more help, I am terrible with all thinks electronic. I don't even know how to quote on this forum Tongue)

Yeah it wasn't real obvious what you wanted. Still not sure. Looking for links or instructions on how to use the results of the links?

I don't know, I think we strike up a pretty good balance of clarity and ambiguity. Can't be much clearer since we're dealing with copyrighted materials, in part. If you're unsure how to use audio with Anki, sounds like you should read up on how Anki works, re: media folders. The Anki site/forum's good for that, for future reference.

You just put the media files into the media folder of the deck. The anki website can give you a run down on the details. Its not too difficult.

If you are after the core words and sentences - The corePlus deck at the anki download site has some basic instructions in the accompanying notes on where to find the audio files and where to put them etc etc. If it is not clear enough - ask here or email if you wish.

Yeah, I'll make an example of this, so you guys can point out what im doing wrong.

SO koreplus says to check this link to get the audio you need:
"Alternatively, I believe you can download all the files together "
http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?tid=5110

vague, but I assume the post means one of the "Core 2k/6k Image and Audio Files". In particular I download "kore-sound-vocab-munged.zip", which is the sound for all the kore's vocab.

I extract the zip, which is a folder called "kore-sound-vocab-munged" but rename it to "Japanese corePLUS.media", to match the anki filed name, which the media extension.

...

and wtf it worked o_o
Like seriously after the 10-15 times Ive tried, as i type this, thats the first time it worked. I think what I did wrong is click " check media DB", which for some reason deleted all the files. Which basically means the last step is "JUST START THE DECK" Thanks for hearing me out though.

For future reference, does anyone know how the deck goes about sorting out the audio within the media folder? Since its a bunch of randomly renamed files, the process doesn't make much sense to me. Can kore-sound-vocab-munged.zip be used all other decks too?

Oh yeah man, don't sweat it. I wouldn't care to remember either if I got it to work haha. It would be cool if it was generally more straight forward for ppl to understand though.
