YouTube: Editing JLPT Kanji Stats Plug-in to find new Kanji

#1

Made a video to show how one can edit the JLPT Kanji Stats plug-in to find kanji in your other decks that might not be studied in your Kanji deck. This is beneficial for those that want to do RTK Lite, then only add new kanji that come up during vocabulary and sentence method studies. Any questions or clarifications needed please post.

PS: Like I've mentioned before, I'll be doing more "how-to" videos for RevTK members. Idea being it's easier to show it than to write about. Any suggestions or contribution videos by other members can lead to a useful video guide on the RevTK Wiki.

When I started my vocab deck, I used the Basic model without realizing that these Anki kanji plugins only work with the Japanese model. Is there a way to change the model of all my cards at once so I can use the plugin? As you can imagine, I'm quite curious to know how many kanji I have seen. Sorry for the noob question, and thanks.

Manske,

Go to "Settings", "Deck Properties" and edit the model. Under "General" is the "Tags" where you can enter "Japanese" so that the plug-ins now can affect this deck.

Now, I didn't mention in the video, but for Kanji Stats to work, the field with kanji in it has to have the name "Expression" so change that. In addition, if you add a field under it called "Reading" that's where the furigana generated reading will go.

Hope it helps.

Alright, glad it worked. Out of interest, anyone tried or is trying the technique I discuss?
