I've thought of this as a way of being able to watch good movies that I actually like whilst also getting Japanese practice. Does anyone know of a place (on the Internet >___>) where I might be able to find these?

http://www.youtube.com/user/OFFICIALKnightKenMOV#p/a youtube channel that has some films. most of them have english subs thoughs so you might wanna stick a piece of paper infront of it
the programs "perfect dark","winny" and "share" are supposedly good for findings dubbed films.
I use perfect dark myself an found some dubbed movies(enough to find on there). Most of the film names are butchered to katakana as well though.
searching 吹き替え or 吹替 on one of those programs gives enough results
jcafe24 has some nice tutorial to get perfect dark started

Perfect Dark is amazing for finding Japanese-dubbed Western content. TV as well as film.

Does perfect dark still work? Last time I tried using it there was just a message saying someone was arrested for using it.

I used the present tense. Just because they can find some of the people who posted files to the network doesn't mean that you can't still use it.

So I finally got around to installing the software. Now, apparently I need a "node list" - does anyone know where I can find one? Everyone on the internet seems to link to here
http://p2p-db.net/dark/
but it's dead.

PD is way better than Share imo, much more content for everything I've searched for. PD nodes: http://p2psoft.info/
edit: you need to give PD a few days to build a cache, it needs to reach at least 2GB before it starts prioritising your searches, and a few more GB before you start getting loads of results.

I've never used PD or Share, but a random stranger told me they never had problems finding a single thing on Share, it took under 5 minutes to set up, and they didn't have to wait for caching or whatnot (and likewise use space for that). Then again, they suggested they specifically focused on a web-based search engine + hash numbers and couldn't comment on the built-in search results.

I've tried a bunch of different ports, and with Windows firewall off, but the message never goes away. I've even tried the port I use for uTorrent, which works fine. I'm connected directly to a university network with no access to a router or anything. I'm on Windows 7.

I don't remember where I found this, probably on another thread but there are a lot of dubs on this site: http://video.fc2.com/en/list.php?sobj_ke...sub=Search
The newer ones do tend to get removed, but you can download them easily with the Firefox FlashGot add-on.
This user seems to post most of them: http://video.fc2.com/en/member?mid=97184262 but maybe his are just the best labeled. I have noticed that the names on some are mangled, probably to avoid them being removed.
My question is how natural are dubs as far as the language? Are they exaggerated like anime or are they closer to real spoken Japanese. I don't know enough yet to be able to tell, but they have improved my listening comprehension. The voice acting quality I've seen so far has been really good.

May I suggest Sukiyaki Western Django by Takashi Miike http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0906665/
It's a Japanese Western but the Japanese actors speak English. It's kind of reverse of what you are looking for, though. But hey, Quentin Tarantino is in it!

I'm bumping for the sake of fakewookie's problem. I've got the same one.

I never managed to get PD working but god knows i tried ... anyhow if you search 日本語吹替 on nicovideo you can find a ton of movies dubbed in japanese without subs/with jap subs, and there's a firefox plugin called nicofox that lets you download nicovideos really easily. Only downside is films are in parts usually, up to 10 sometimes, but it'd worth it i think

Nico Nico Douga's okay, but it's like going to Youtube for movies rather than torrenting them. Still, I got the whole of Pirates of the Caribbean off it, so thanks for the Nicofox rec, natassja.
