Could we make a Buy/Sell/Trade section?

#1
I was just wondering if it was possible to make a Buy/Sell/Trade section for Japanese material in the forums. I thought this might be especially handy for swapping Japanese video-games. Personally, I have a copy of Tales of Vesperia for the PS3 right now (Japanese of course) that I would like to trade for a copy of Final Fantasy XIII in Japanese. Just drop me an e-mail if anyone is interested.

Maybe thread in the koohii lounge to start things off. If it picks up, then Fabrice could decide if it warrants a sub forum.

Yes a buy and trade section would be awesome. I've been wanting to buy some television shows in Japanese; however, I know I'll only watch them once through and never again. I'm one of those people that dot really enjoy watching the same thing twice, especially television shows.

The problem with the buying and selling of things is that its easy to get burned. I'd be pretty irritated if I dropped a man to pick somebody up a drama, and then they reversed the paypal charges on me once I shipped it to them. (T_T)

If a safe system for both parties can be agreed upon though, I wouldn't mind doing a little personal shopping for my fellow forum members.

Wouldn't you be able to prove to paypal the package was shipped with a tracking number? Just don't use Western Union money transfers, scammers love those

I would imagine having a buy/sell/trade section on the forums would add a whole new level of liability for the webmaster.

I vaguely remember a website which allows people to do that, it was specifically about Japanese items. Must have been posted here before. If it was free then why not use it.

Couldn't you use eBay for this? (I know very little about eBay)

The advantage of doing it on here is that you would have a very focused selection of products that would be relevant to us. Might even see some stuff that you didn't even know about.
Also ebay charges outrageous fees.

I think a single thread could work for this, but it would need to be setup so people could edit or even delete their posts to indicate when stuff is no longer available.
And maybe people shouldn't respond to offers directly in the thread, but instead do it via PM. Otherwise it might get crowded and hard to see what items people have.

Personally I would not want to see this idea implemented on these forums. There are plenty of other sites available online where you can buy and sell stuff using tried and true methods. Let's keep the potential angst of trades gone bad off this site.

Flutterscape. That's the one. Wouldn't it work if you register as sellers and buyers? I imagine it takes a small fee on transactions but it may be worth checking.
