Does anyone know if something like this exists yet? An app that would show pop-up translations of any Japanese word you tapped on a webpage would be awesome.
I've tried searching, but so far I've been unable to find a program such as this.

What i'm really after is an app that would work in iPod mode so you can look words up in lyrics whilst the song is playing. That would be gold.

In addition, the lastest subs2srs can put the segment of dialogue into the lyrics section. The iPhone and iTouch just displays the text.
Now if they can update the player so it uses the time stame (.lrc format) to display the lyrics line by line in a larger font, that'd be super.

You can use lrc lyrics on the iPhone with various apps, for example LRC Player.

OK sorry for the slander, we get a lot of app developers making an account just to post about their app. Great that you guys are learning Japanese too - does that mean you'll be listening to suggestions from the community for continued development of the app?
This just joined Anki on the quick launch bar of my iPhone - who the hell needs the 'phone' function anyway??

Please make a music player where I can look up words in the lyrics while the song is playing. The standard ipod function doesn't allow you to select any text from the lyrics which really sucks. If I had the "wakaru" functionality in the ipod app, it would be the greatest thing ever.

Has anyone used the the iphone version? First I want to say to the iPhone screen may be too small for this concept to work well.... but
(Forgive my brutal honesty but) I found this app to be a complete and utter piece of garbage that should've never been released in the first place.
I have a ipod touch 4g but...
1) if you have it in portrait mode, the icons on the bar at the top overlap. You only get you through to see 3 LETTERS in the url field. Good luck if you mistyped something. There's no way for you to know since you can actually see what you're typing
2) often the scrolling freezers is very slow. It's the only program I've ever used on my ipod touch that made me think my touch screen was broken....
3) there is some stupid ad that always covers up the webpage. Interesting though as half of the ad cannot be seen as it is off the screen so it is impossible for the user even though it's being advertised...
4) if you want to see the definition of the word you have to click through an EXTRA COMPLETELY USELESS SCREEN telling you you can study even though school is out...WTF
Long_weekend I appreciate the effort... but why was this even released in its current form? This program by far as the worst usability of any iphone app I've ever downloaded...

juniperpansy,
Thanks for you interest and for using Rikai Browser. You are awesome.
First, I want to confirm that your issues are indeed with Rikai Browser? We take quality seriously and are proud of our products. If there are issues, I would like to fix them.
We have not been able to replicate what you are describing here, so I'd like to get some more details to resolve the issue. I will send you a mail asking for some more details of your set up (which you likely don't want to share with the whole forum).
Again, thanks for using our products and I hope to have this resolved for you as soon as possible.
