Reading this thread, I just downloaded "Rikai Browser Free" to try out, and get similar results to juniperpansy in reply #21.
There's a partly-obscured rectangle near the bottom left of the screen that changes occasionally, but often says ダウンロード (the ダ is mostly missing). Download what though? Is it some unrelated advert, or maybe an essential part of the app that needs to be downloaded from the Internet to make it work? I don't like to click download buttons without an idea of what I'm downloading.
I can't get the rikai function to work at all. The blue selection box appears ok, and when tapping it a "copy/rikai" bubble appears, but touching the "rikai" button just makes it go away again – nothing else happens.
Incidentally for several minutes even the rikai button stopped appearing; I eventually realized this depended on the setting of the walking man icon in the top bar.

We're going to have to work on this and release a new version that works on this device as well. It's unusual to find such deviation between iOS devices (it had been tested on an iPod Touch 3G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4..), but now that we can duplicate the problem we can fix it.
