I tried to find an Introductions thread but didn't find one, so I hope it's ok if I make an Intro post. Although I have not yet begun anything specifically Heisig-related, I've been reading and learning from this forum for several months now. What a nice, supportive community of learners! Anyway, after all this time, I felt the least I should do is to say Hello. I feel as if I already know many of you!

I've been studying in earnest since mid-March. No classes, just on my own. My study plan employs a wide variety of sources involving all aspects of the language (my weakest is writing). I'm very pleased with my progress so far and look forward to learning more every day.

I don't have a question right now (trust me, I will soon enough!). I just wanted to say Hi!

Hey there! and welcome to the forums. Before I finally started posting I lurked here for quite some time as well. Although nowadays I think I spend a little to much time reading the topics around here =P.

Good luck with your studies and don't be afraid to ask questions. The much more experienced users around here(i.e. not me) are amazingly helpful.

Hello Snowflake! and welcome.
Stick to your plan, and everything's gonna be just fine.
Anyway just being on this forum makes you better at Japanese... no... wait, that's just how it feels.
See ya!

Thanks for the welcome, folks! I feel at home already.

Regarding Lang-8, I've been looking around over there for a few weeks. It's a bit too intimidating for me just yet. I toyed with the idea of starting up, then realized my entry wouldn't be much more than "Hello, my name is Snowflake. Nice weather, isn't it?". It's on my goals list, though. Maybe I should set a goal date; by December 31, I will have started a Lang-8 journal!

((notice, I didn't say what year -- I like to keep my options open...))

Short and simple journal entries get corrected the fastest. So there is something to be said for that.

I agree. Outside of my non-existent speaking skill, this type of production is without a doubt my weakest skill, but I still try to get on at least once every few weeks to write a 3-5 sentence entry. Most people tend to stay away from the essay-length articles I think. Interesting for reading, not so much for correcting if you don't have a lot of time/patience.

Also, welcome to the forums!

Now that we have snowflake for Winter and ice cream for Summer, we'll need 2 more users for Fall and Spring.
