It's by the comedy duo ラーメンズ and apparently it's from a series they did to "introduce" Japanese culture to the rest of the world. This one covers sushi restaurants.

Is it my imagination, or is this distinctly Japanese humor? Of course, the subject matter is explicitly Japanese. But even putting that aside, there's something very Japanese about this comedy. The earnest thoroughness conveyed by the diagrams, etc. accounts for much of this...

The video series is still pretty good for getting a little insight in Japanese culture from a Japanese perspective. My wife absolutely loved the series. I think you can get all eight on a torrent somewhere.

Yeah I managed to find them amongst the torrents, some of the others seem to be on youtube too if you can find them. Some of the others are even better.

The Hashi one especially, the "phoenix" lol I'll have to try that one! They strike me as Japans answer to parodies of those awful American educational films from the 1950s and 1960s that always get made fun of.

It is very unlike typical Japanese humour, which is typically based on two people playing off of each other (manzai) or one person's (willing) suffering (that is exaggerated) or making a fool of themselves.

The video is British style humour if anything.
