Hey gang,
Does anyone know of any flashcard applications for Android that works the same as Reviewing the Kanji? I've got an hour commute each way every day, and would love to review flashcards on the go.
Any ideas?

AnkiDroid is the only one I know of off the top of my head. Make sure you get the 0.5 alpha from google code. (I don't have the URL handy, but check the Anki Wiki for info.)

You can find 0.4 and links on the Android Marketplace. It's free.

Or you can download Anki for the PC/Mac/Linux, use the desktop version, use AnkiOnline, and use the browser on your phone to review instead. That's how I do it. It's all a matter of personal preference. There's better info in the Wiki. (The programs are written by different people, but the Android version is based on the desktop version. Check the Wiki for details.)

The last I looked, AnkiDroid requires rooting your phone to install Japanese fonts. And with a brand new phone, I was not willing to do this. But then, I do not use Anki on the web or on a pc, so running Anki on my phone was not so important. Anyway, I am using the AnyMemo flashcard app and I find it quite useful.

I did root my phone but I didn't install any Japanese fonts (at least consciously) and it works fine.

Yeah, rooting for JP fonts is a myth. There's one in your phone already. I use Droidwing and a few other JP apps already, and use AnkiOnline rather frequently with no major problems, and I've never rooted.

Make sure to download a good JP keyboard. I like Simeji (the one with the mushroom icon). It's a little on the ugly side, but it works well.

The only downside that I can find is that I still haven't found a way to draw kanji into my Nexus One, like with the traditional CHN keyboard on my old iPhone. (But that input device was so terrible that I never bothered with it.)

I wish someone could develop one as nice as the one in the 電子辞書 I've been using for the last 3 years.

Off topic I'm afraid, but what is that kanji under your name? To the left? I obviously still have a long way to go (only up to 600-odd so far).
And thanks for the helpful replies everyone.
