Ghoro Wrote:This is a bit late :-P But thanks a lot every one, this is a great list.

Some other people said it here before, but is there any American shows with Japanese dubs and if so where are some places I can get them? That would be really great, I can only do so many JDramas lol

Again Thanks Smile
RTK share has a collection of Japanese dubbed movies and TV shows:

Code Blue is pretty much just a standard medical drama the likes of Greys Anatomy. bit melodramatic in places, but pretty good.

Hey now, don't diss Pokemon! Where did you think I clocked in all my beginner listening hours? No show was able to make me feel better than pokemon when I was a beginner. I was able to sit back and enjoy, even when my vocabulary was pretty small.
I never find pokémon! I want so bad to watch it, but where? Thanks in advance, great inspirational post btw, at least for me.
Yeah Pokemon is a bit hard to find. I had a couple of episodes of the beginning downloaded from a long time ago, unfortunately I don't have them anymore. Tokyotosho should have some Pokemon, but just remember it's going to be nearly impossible to go to the beginning of Pokemon, as all those links will probably be dead.

[PM me if you got beef. Though, I'm sure you're mature enough to know why I do what I do.]

I just finished downloading the first 80 episodes last night.

Anyone knows how to find Seinfeld's Japanese scripts?

I recommend a show called Moteki, really funny!

Not sure if it has subs or not, but you can find it on D-Addicts.

For anyone who likes shadowing too, the monologues are great!

Unubore is also really funny, and i like 日本人の知らない日本語 too this season. It's another nice one for beginners, and anyone who wants to learn a bit of keigo and the names of random obscure japanese things. You can't srs any of the students lines though...

oh... has anyone watched Moyashimon? It's um... bizarre. I only watched the 1st episode, haven't really got much of an idea what happened, except there were animated germs everywhere...

sorry i haven't got time to do an update each season anymore >< ...
Yes! 日本人の知らない日本語 is really good too Smile Can't wait till the next episode is out, whenever that will be -__-

But I do agree that they are both good for practicing and whatnot, but in 日本人の知らない日本語 the 外人 Japanese does sound a little... grating sometimes (except for maybe 2 people)

IceCream Wrote:They can be quite difficult to understand at times too, which is weird cos for some reason i always assumed that people with accents would understand each other easier. Maybe they have to be british for that to work or something...?
Hmm... how much listening to native japanese people do you do relative to gaijin speaking japanese? Plus, we all have our own unique way of butchering japanese (Australians are horrific). It's probably just a matter of practice, if you were so inclined.

Again thanks for all the help Smile

Right now I have really liked My Boss My Hero and Nodame Cantabile, because I think they're both really funny. So I'm wondering, what are some other really funny JDramas?

My Boss My Hero was awesome.

Try Dragonzakura. And maybe Boss. And God-hand Teru.

I just started watching "My girl" and I just hate the main character. After almost every scene I would punch him in the face (one woman even does this for me). I know for a character to develop there must be room to grow but did they really have to set the bar so low? This guy is a complete and utter failure. I don't want him to develop, learn or anything... I want him to die and in a very painful way.

Overall I don't think I can recommend this drama to any normal guy. So far its sexist, stereotypical and completely unrealistic. I've never met a man who would behave like that in the presence of a child or fail as badly as a parent.

I watched a drama called オレンジデイズ (Orange Days).

It's about a dude and his struggle with a girl who became deaf who is quite pretty.

It's kind of from a 3rd person point of view, so you get to see how the boy thinks as well as the girl. More so the boy than the girl.

Maybe it's a bit girly but I loved it and I'm a guy.

for the rest... i guess. I also found shimada0san's story interesting.

never mind I found the link.

I would just recommend watching talk/variety shows just b.c. there's more of them than dramas. most dramas just have this cheap/boring feel with even just the camera-work but the few Japanese dramas that are really good are really good and I was glad that I watched them.

Dunno if older stuff / Jidai Deki counts but there's Kozure Okami / Lone Wolf and Cub, three seasons, 26 episodes each, just started watching the first season now. Found this thread because I need to balance out my Jidai Deki watching with some stuff that's a bit more friendly for actual learning..

Have 'My Boss' on its way now.

Is there any way to get Japanese subtitles for the shows where d-addicts doesn't have them? Or am I missing something there? For example, Moteki sounds great, but it seems to only have English subtitles.

thanks....
