My dream study tool

#1
I was just thinking today while reading some manga on my computer that if I had this program my studying would be optimized to hell and back. I am thinking of a program which would display the pages of the manga, then you could drag a rectangle selection box around a portion you want to SRS. It would select that portion and grab the same section from the translated version (if the raw and translated versions are of different size it would select based on scale and proportions). Then it would automatically throw those into an pre-defined anki deck as question and answer of a card.

So does this already exist? If not, it definitely should. I could code it somebody could point me in the direction of a well-documented image viewer codebase. What do you guys think?

Well, I can see there being a problem if the files from the english and japanese manga are numbered differently. Seems like way too much effort just to prevent an extra copy/paste.

Just open both manga at the same time, then use windows 7 snipping tool (maybe its in vista too?) to draw the box around the text you want, control+c, then paste it in anki. Then draw a box around the english one, ctrl+c, and paste into anki.

Ahh, so that's why it doesn't exist. I didn't know that feature existed, thanks man!

Yeah it would only save one c/p per dialog item - you'd still have to be doing a select for each one. And you'd probably have to align many pages manually since the scans aren't always exact, they have different borders etc. Nice idea though of making raw vs. scanlation decks.
