Anyone here use Mnemosyne to study Japanese? It seems Anki is more popular on this forum...
I wanted to get the word out that there's an app called iSRS that's compatible with your Mnemosyne databases. It's free too and it includes a Kanji database with over 3000 kanji/english keyword cards (it's based on Heisig's Remembering The Kanji Vol I and III) as well as a Kana database! There are also two paid versions of this app with more features for iPhone/iPod touch and iPad.
Edit: I am not an "iSRS drone" as FutureBlues suggests, I'm just trying to get the word out about another learning resource for Mnemosyne users.
How about the post entitled "Anki iPhone app dropping soon - who's buying?", did you accuse the poster of attempting to market the app as well?

MnemosyneFan? Or iSRS marketing drone?
If you want to announce your new product, I'd just go ahead and put all your cards down on the table. I have nothing against Mnemosyne, but (assuming these paid iApps are yours) this just reeks of someone trying to cash in on pre-existing communit(ies).

I've got a friend who likes Mnemosyne. He said it he had tried both Mnemosyne and Anki, but decided that Mnemosyne is more of a "learning" program, whereas Anki is a "testing" program.
I have no clue what he exactly meant by using those words, but his opinions were strong, and if it's working for him, well then more power to him.
I'm going to continue using iAnki because of the $25 I popped on it. A decent investment for the 3(?) years I've been using Anki, but it's always hard telling people I paid $25 for an iPod app and convincing them it was worth it...

i started with isrs because it was cheaper and i had some trouble setting up anki on my computer, so i was already using mnemosyne. then i finished lesson 10 in rtk, and for the first time noticed his suggestion of learning keyword->kanji. how silly of me. then i couldn't figure out how to change the isrs settings to change it to keyword->kanji. so i feel like i've still internalized 95% of those first 249 kanji, but i set up anki again on the computer and i very quickly realized how much better it is with options for organizing and using the decks. the available decks to download are also excellent. I did the first 20 cards of Tae Kim today. so i'm going to go back and review any kanji from the first 249 that i didn't get perfectly in keyword->kanji (including remembering the story, writing et al.) with the steps 1-6 Heisig lays out before i continue forward. i want to be thorough and make no missteps. i think i'll keep isrs just so i can do the occasional kanji->keyword practice, and soon i guess i'll pay up for ianki. anyone have any insight on my methods? when should i start to add sentences, and what deck do you recommend? i am already familiar with the sentences from the first 600 smart.fm vocab from using that website. thanks.
