Does anybody know of any streaming japanese videos (on youtube, for example) with Japanese subtitles? I know sometimes NHK has japanese subs for their shows but I've only stumbled upon them by chance and don't know where I could find them.

You can use Nico Nico Douga's tags to find videos with subtitles.

What else would be great is if you could extract the Japanese captioning from DVDs, then just load them up as text files in something like JWPCE and look up the words electronically as you watch.

Haha yeah I said thanks before I looked. Both sites are great if you only need english subs, but I still had no luck with japanese subs.
