Stylized Characters

#1
I came across this screenshot: http://www.andriasang.com/e/galleries/20...132418978/

And I realized that 6 months ago, I would not have been able to read that text for 2 reasons:

1) I've studied kanji more.

2) It's stylized.

I wouldn't have been able to decipher the kana despite having been able to read it (when written in a normal computer font) for like a year. Now, it provides a bit of challenge, but I can do it.

I love the human brain and the things it learns to do.

That's typical movie subtitle font right there.

Cool. I guess it's something you have to learn through practice.

That was what was so magic about it... I've never seen that style before, and last time I read stylized characters was extremely frustrating. Now, a few months later, it wasn't that bad. I didn't practice, I didn't try... I just kept reading manga and computer text.

Huh. I don't think it's difficult to read, but I can read bad handwriting so I assumed that was why. Good for you.

Pssh! That's a walk in the park. If you want a REAL challenge try deciphering the homework in beginner Japanese classes. I need a bottle of advil just to get through a stack Tongue

Mmmm. Ibuprofen. Good stuff.

And yeah, handwriting is a whole 'nother ball of wax. I'm just starting to be able to read it. Hehe.
