I live in Tokyo, and I'm only at about $1300usd/month, including all living expenses. It's actually significantly cheaper than San Francisco and Silicon Valley, where I used to live. In the US my transportation (car) and health insurance + medical was ridiculously expensive.

Obviously I'm getting less for my money in Tokyo (smaller apartment, no car, etc), but I'm living for less.

As for expenses, I've seen some of those detailed tables the actuary types put together to figure out cost of living adjustments for expats. (probably available on line.)Tokyo is considered quite a bit more expensive than NYC. They're based on maintaining a similar lifestyle though. It's a bit of a game really - some expats adjust to a more Japanese lifestyle and bank the extra money.

I'm hesitant to rank any of them, but then again, I'm still in shock now that the masks have come off and I finally know what all the clerks at the Lawson I go to actually look like. Those things are surprisingly good at obscuring facial features.

There is a girl where I work from London who would be considered extremely hot back in America, but she was almost in tears the other day because she said no men pay her any attention. That's very far from my experience, of course I'm much younger though. If I went to a club with Swedish girls my age, they became a HIVE of japanese guys IMMEDIATELY, they literally swarmed into rings around them. None of the Swedish girls I've known in Japan (who actually looked good) has gone without boyfriends for more than like.. a month.

It's a known fact that most Japanese guys consider sleeping with a white girl to be of pretty high priority. Getting married though? That's probably a completely different story.

The majority I meet (college age) are weird otaku or seem permanently angry. Neither one is very attractive to me (or most other men I'm guessing).

I'm talking about teeth.. obviously.

Braces are pretty common nowdays..

I'm not particularly obsessed with teeth looking like a row of chicklets anyways, as long as they aren't rotten or look like a shark.

yea i agree, the prefect 10 isn't really something to even look for. B/c it's not possible to exist, there isn't such a thing as a "prefect" person. Everyone has flaws, we are all humans. Even when it comes to looks, 10 isn't possible. 9 is though

Weird enough, I find the Asians that model mostly unattractive. I do like actresses such as 井上真央, though. Also whenever I walk around the Japanese market near my house I prefer the stay-at-home moms doing their shopping. That's probably a weird thing for someone who is just about to be 21. Lol. Anyway what I'm trying to get at is I like almost all those girls, but the reason I hate the girl on the left is her hair. Straight hair is the bomb.
