Core 2000 pronunciation question

#1
So I'm still pretty new to this whole Japanese thing. I'm at 980 kanji in RTK. I'm read about 9 or so lessons in Japanese the Manga Way(trying to read one a day lately) and I've done about 50 items in Core 2000.

Lately I've been trying to keep a program going every day. 20 new Kanji, 1 lesson from
マンガで学ぶ日本語文法 and 10 items from core 2000 on smart.fm

But as I've been doing core 2000 I've often been trying to read the sentences with the same flow as the voice you that reads them for you. But then I began thinking to myself if maybe the pronunciation/flow of the words the give you in examples in core 2000 sound weird or contrived.

I do spend almost my entire day listening to Japanese in one form or another, but I'm still to new to really be able to tell when pronunciation is awkward or foreign sounding or if the flow of a sentence isn't quite right. So I figured I would ask here. Do the sentences in Core 2000 sound like good Japanese or do they sound contrived.

I'm just trying to figure out whether I should work at mimicking the sentences or not.

I don't see the harm in it. The pronunciation is almost certainly going to be better than yours, in any case.

They're boring, contextless sentences constructed as examples for random vocabulary words. Of course they sound contrived. Smile

That said, they're good enough for beginner materials. They're slowish, clearly pronounced, and easy to listen to.

I'd say mimic away...
