Go Australia!

#1
The forum said "insanely off topic", so: World Cup 2010, go Australia! It's only Germany, they ought to be pushovers, right! ...right?

(Once I get to Japan my allegiances will change)

Yeah, that was kinda inevitable. 4 - 0 is a bit steep though!

@CarolinaCG: Australia needs this separate thread to wallow in misery.

I looked at the scoreboard on ESPN after the first day of play. Four teams had played and no one had a victory; 0-0, 1-1. I haven't paid attention since. People wait four years for this?

I watched the game until the third goal. I was hoping for a bit better from Australia.

YAAAY!!! Germany!!!! Fight!!(o^-^)尸~''☆ミ☆ミ

Actually I'm surprised! I didn't think we would be that strong this year. I was worried!! But 4 goals is great Smile
Too bad I can't watch most of the games because of the extreme time difference. Most games are in the middle of the night ;o;

God, Soccer has been never of any interest to me....ever. I don't know why, but I feel
the whole thing too slow. 1-3, 4-5 goals / match on an average? Come on. Something must be wrong with me.
Do the japanese have a team participating in this event? If yes, how are they doing?

Well, we'll know in a few hours when their first match starts. They've got some tough competition, though, and I don't think Japan's soccer team is known for being particularly strong.

The goals aren't the exciting part of the game though; the plays and attacks are. You can have a nail-biting amazing game that ends 0-0, and likewise you can have a poor scrappy game that ends 4-0.
There is a lot of boring bits though; that's why the British love it, during those times we can go the bar and get the drinks in, or chat to our mates.

Japan pulled off the upset. My girlfriend, a former hairdresser, refuses to be happy because she says the Japanese players have ugly hair.

Yeah, nice work Japan. Oh great, and now they're showing the replay of Australia's drubbing.

Switching allegiances now... コンプリート。

Christ, the end of that game was tense, though. Especially that almost-goal from Cameroon.

Hi guys (and gals?), Danish guy living in Tokyo writing. I was wondering if someone was interested in hooking up in Tokyo to watch some World Cup matches? Most of my friends are Japanese and they couldn't care less about soccer, so I am forced to watch all aloneSad Perhaps we could find a cozy pub and watch some matches there?

Congratulaions to Japan! (^-^)b
I only watched the first few minutes of the game (and missed the one and only goal) because it was already late and I was tired *g*

Actually, this is my first World Soccer Cup in Japan.
The last time (2006) I was still in Germany Smile
